    Impact of industrial effluents on ground water and soil quality in the vicinity of industrial area of Panipat city, India

    The present paper is aimed towards the assessment of heavy metal contamination of agricultural soil due to irrigation with contaminated ground water affected by textile industrial effluents at Panipat city in India. Samples of ground water and irrigated soils from textile industrial area were analyzed for various heavy metals, viz. Mn, Ni, Fe, Cu, Cd, Pb and Zn, using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Metal transfer factors from ground water to irrigated agricultural soil and from soil to ground water were calculated for heavy metals. The findings deal with the distribution of heavy metals in ground water of industrial area and irrigated agricultural soil. Transfer factors for heavy metals from effluent to ground water were observed to be 0.436, 1.180, 6.461, 2.401, 2.790, 3.178 and 0.634 for Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn respectively. These were found to be very high from ground water to agriculture soil due to the natural shale value of heavy metals in soil system. Thus, untreated industrial effluents can cause an environmental threat to ground water resources and affects soil quality and agricultural plant productivity

    Bitcoin Price Prediction Using Machine Learning Techniques

    This paper discusses, trying to accurately assess the price of Bitcoin by looking at differ-ent parameters affects the value of Bitcoin. In our work, we focus on understanding and seeing the evolution of Bitcoin daily market, a1 and gaining intuition in the most rele-vant aspects surrounding the Bitcoin price. In the meantime, market capitalization of publicly traded cryptocurrencies exceeds $ 230 billion. The most important cryptocur-rency, Bitcoin, is used primarily as a digital value store, and its pricing opportunities have been extensively considered. These features are described in more detail in the fol-lowing paragraph: details of the main Bitcoin, as described in the paper. Bitcoin is the most expensive digital currency in the market. However, Bitcoin prices have been highly volatile, making it difficult to forecast. As a result, the goal of this research is to find the most efficient and accurate model for predicting Bitcoin prices using various machine learning algorithms. Several regression models with scikit-learn and Keras libraries were tested using 1-minute interval trading data from the Bitcoin exchange website bit stamp from January 1. 2012 to January 8, 2018. The best results showed a Mean Squared Error (MSE) as low as 0.00002 and an R- Square (R2) as high as 99.2 percent

    SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDY OF SOME BENZENESULFONAMIDE BASED BIPYRAZOLES

    Objectives: To synthesize, characterize and evaluate antimicrobial properties of some benzenesulfonamide based bipyrazole. Methods: The benzenesulfonamide based bipyrazole 1a-d & 2a-f have been synthesized by the reaction between 1-[1-aryl / (benzothiazol-2-yl)-5-hydroxy-3-methylpyrazol-4-yl]butane-1,3-diones 5 and 2-hydrazinobenzothiazoles or Aryl hydrazines 3. The structures of these compounds have been characterized from the rigorous analysis of their IR, 1H-NMR, HRMS and elemental analysis. These compounds were screened for their anti-microbial activity. Results: The results revealed that compounds 1a, 2b and 2f exhibited good antibacterial activity and 1b, 1c, 2a, and 2d showed moderate antibacterial activity as compared with standard drug Ofloxacin. Conclusion: This study provides the simple method for the synthesis of new benzenzenesulfonamide based bipyrazoles which plays important role in numerous bioactive compounds

    SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDY OF SOME NOVEL FLUORINE BASED 2-AMINOTHIAZOLES

    Objectives: To synthesize, characterize and evaluate antimicrobial properties of some novel fluorine based 2-aminothiazoles. Methods: The syntheses of some novel fluorine based 2-aminothiazoles have been described by using hypervalent iodine [I(III)] mediated approach. It was observed that this is the more general and promising method for the synthesis of any thiazole, but, when other methods work, the hypervalent iodine [I(III)] mediated approach generally gives better yields. The structures of these compounds have been characterized from the rigorous analysis of their IR, 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. These compounds were screened for their anti-microbial activity. Results: The results revealed that compounds 7d, 7f, 10a, 10b, 10c, 14e and 14f showed moderate to good antibacterial activity as compared with the standard drug Chloramphenicol. Conclusion: The two thiazole synthetic methods described herein use readily available reagents and both of them are easily feasible, the hypervalent iodine mediated approach for the synthesis of title compounds is more significant because, in spite of the better yields, it avoids the use of highly toxic and lachrymatory α-halogenoketone, thereby being more eco-friendlier

    Mitochondria mediates caspase-dependent and independent retinal cell death in Staphylococcus aureus endophthalmitis

    Bacterial endophthalmitis, a vision-threatening complication of ocular surgery or trauma, is characterized by increased intraocular inflammation and retinal tissue damage. Although significant vision loss in endophthalmitis has been linked to retinal cell death, the underlying mechanisms of cell death remain elusive. In this study, using a mouse model of Staphylococcus aureus endophthalmitis and cultured human retinal Müller glia (MIO-M1 cell line), we demonstrate that S. aureus caused significant apoptotic cell death in the mouse retina and Müller glia, as evidenced by increased number of terminal dUTP nick end labeling and Annexin V and propidium iodide-positive cells. Immunohistochemistry and western blot studies revealed the reduction in mitochondrial membrane potential (JC-1 staining), release of cytochrome c into the cytosol, translocation of Bax to the mitochondria and the activation of caspase-9 and -3 in S. aureus-infected retina/retinal cells. In addition, the activation of PARP-1 and the release of apoptosis inducing factor from mitochondria was also observed in S. aureus-infected retinal cells. Inhibition studies using pan-caspase (Q-VD-OPH) and PARP-1 (DPQ) inhibitors showed significant reduction in S. aureus-induced retinal cell death both in vivo and in vitro. Together, our findings demonstrate that in bacterial endophthalmitis, retinal cells undergo apoptosis in the both caspase-dependent and independent manners, and mitochondria have a central role in this process. Hence, targeting the identified signaling pathways may provide the rationale to design therapeutic interventions to prevent bystander retinal tissue damage in bacterial endophthalmitis

    Diagnostic accuracy of FNAC in diagnosis for causes of lymphadenopathy: a hospital based analysis

    Introduction: The lymphadenopathy consist wide range of etiology from inflammatory process to a malignant condition and it is most common clinical presentation in outpatient department. Fine needle aspiration cytology is a simple, safe, reliable, rapid and inexpensive method of diagnosis in lymph nodes.Aims and objectives: To find out diagnostic accuracy of FNAC in lymphadenopathy and common pattern of lymphadenopathy in our institute. Methods: This prospective study was carried out in the department of Pathology of Index Medical College Hospital and research Centre, Indore, India from June 2011 to May 2013. The patients with palpable lymph nodes were included in this study. The slides were stained with Papanicolaou and May Grunewald Geimsa stain.Special stain like Ziel Neelson, Alcian blue was done whenever is required. A detailed analytic study was performed for correlation of Cyto-histopathological diagnosis. Results: The result shows male to female ratio of 1.0:0.8. The age of the patients ranges from 2 to 79 year with mean age of 32 years. The study shows reactive hyperplasia 149 (33.38%), tubercular lymphadenitis 177 (39.77%), granulomatous lymphadenitis 32(7.1%), lymphoma 25 (5.5%), metastatic carcinoma 40 (8.9%) and others 22 (4.9%). We found cyto-histpathological concordant in 161 (95.8%) cases and discordant in 7 (4.2%) cases.Conclusion: The sensitivity of FNAC in lymphoma and metastatic tumors is 81.48% and 97.5% with test accuracy of 96.5% and 99.4% respectively. Hence FNAC should be used as preliminary screening investigation in all forms of lymphadenopathy and interpretation should be done in conjunction with clinical picture of the patients

    Stress Biomarkers in Vanaraja Chicken Maintained Under Various Rearing Systems

    Stress is of major concern for poultry industry because it exerts deleterious effects on different parameters like feed intake, feed conversion ratio, weight gain, etc. In present study various enzymatic viz. superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and non-enzymatic components like reduced glutathione (GSH), hemoglobin and stress induced cellular damage i.e. lipid peroxidation was estimated to access the stress level in Vanaraja chickens reared under various rearing systems during summer. Significantly (p<0.05) increased activities of CAT and SOD was observed in deep litter system as compared to cage and semi-intensive rearing system. However, non-significant change in CAT and significantly increased activity of SOD was observed as the age progress. GSH-Px activity significantly lower (p<0.05) in the deep litter as compared to other systems, however, the activity increases significantly (p<0.05) at 8th wks as compared to 4th wks. GSH level was found maximum in cage system compared to deep litter and semi-intensive system. Non-significant changes were observed in hemoglobin concentration during study both between age groups as well as the age progresses. Observations of the study suggested that cage system is better than deep litter and semi-intensive system in handling the stress induced by different environmental factors
